Measure Your Space
Cabinets are built to the numbers on this sheet. Careful measuring up front is the difference between a smooth install and weeks of waiting on a re-made cabinet.
Purpose
Capture every measurement needed to design, order, and install correctly.
When
Before anything is designed or ordered — as soon as the room is ready to measure.
Who
Installer, contractor, or a careful homeowner. Best case: the installer doing the install takes these measurements — and signs them.
The work — what to capture and why
1
Project
Identify the project and room so every measurement, drawing, and note can be referenced.
2
Room outline drawing
Draw the room and label every wall. Show doors, windows, swing directions, openings, and any irregular geometry. Not to scale, but accurate.
3
Wall measurements
Corner to corner, then again at counter height. If a wall is not consistent, note where and how it changes — variation affects alignment and filler sizing.
4
Doors, windows, openings
Everything that interrupts a cabinet run: sizes, trim depth, swing direction, and distance to the nearest corners.
5
Vertical measurements
Floor-to-ceiling in at least two spots; soffits and beams with height and depth. Verticals determine maximum cabinet height.
6
Utilities
Mark every utility on the drawing with a centerline: plumbing, electrical, gas, venting, HVAC, panels. Centerlines decide where cabinets and appliances land.
7
Floor + wall conditions
Flat or sloped floor, plumb or deviating walls. Note anything that affects installation accuracy.
8
Notes for the designer
Constraints or conflicts, coordination with other trades, special conditions, customer comments.
What a good drawing looks like
Ten minutes with a pencil. Every wall labeled, every opening measured to its corners, every utility on a centerline. Not to scale — but accurate.
The gateNo order without verified site measurements.
Handoff
Send the completed form and your photos to your designer. Design starts from these numbers.
Escalate
Stop and ask before going further if you find major floor slope, walls far out of plumb, gas or vent relocation, or anything structural. Your designer would rather hear about it now than on install day.
