Get the Site Ready
Most bad install days were lost a week earlier — missing blocking, a late appliance, a wall that moved. Walk the site while there is still time to fix them.
One honest answer: ready, or not yet
Purpose
A pre-install site walk that catches problems while there is still time to fix them.
When
1–2 days before install day.
Who
The installer — the installer doing the job makes this call.
The walk
1
Bring the install guide
Your install guide or order packet. Confirm it is the final version.
2
Check the design against the room
Do the measurements still match? Write down every difference. Small ones matter.
3
Find the blocking
Wall reinforcement for uppers, bases, floating shelves, the fridge cabinet. Every wall that carries weight. Check it now, not on install morning.
4
Read the room
Floors level? Walls square? Ceiling even? What are the walls made of? Does flooring run under the cabinets?
5
Check utilities and appliances
Rough-ins where the design says. Appliances on site — or on the missing list. List missing appliances today; they can stop an install.
6
Plan the workday
Where do cabinets stage? Who else works in the space? Lighting, entry, parking, work hours.
The gateNo installer travels until the site is ready — the install locks when this sheet says READY.
Handoff
Ready: the install is booked. Not yet: name what must be fixed first — and who fixes it — then walk it again.
Escalate
Blocking is the builder's job — missing blocking, a moved wall, or rough-ins in the wrong place: call your designer before install day, not on install morning.
